Core technology
XPS
Methanol in. Clean power out.
The XPS is the power-generating heart of every Whitecell system. It converts liquid e-methanol into electricity through a clean, two-stage electrochemical process — no combustion, no moving pistons. The animation below shows exactly what happens inside the module.

How it works
Inside the XPS
A continuous loop from liquid fuel to usable current. Watch each stage of the energy-conversion process.
Step 1
Liquid emethanol
A methanol–water mix is stored as a stable liquid at room temperature.
Step 2
Reforming
The reformer splits methanol into hydrogen-rich gas — only moments before it is needed.
Step 3
Fuelcell stack
Hydrogen reacts with oxygen across the stack, producing electrons — waste heat is the only byproduct.
Step 4
Clean electricity
A steady DC current is delivered to the system — silent, continuous, CO2-neutral.
The two core components
Reformer
Methanol hydrogen conversion
The reformer transforms the liquid methanol–water mixture into a hydrogen-rich gas on demand in a closed loop inside the XPS. Because hydrogen is generated only at the moment it is consumed, the XPS avoids the storage and transport challenges of compressed or cryogenic hydrogen entirely.
Fuel-cell stack
Hydrogen electricity conversion
Built from a series of high-temperature PEM cells, the stack drives the electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. Each cell contributes to the total output, generating a steady DC current — no combustion, no vibration and no noise.
The conversion process
The XPS runs as a sealed, continuous loop. Fuel enters as a liquid and leaves as electricity and waste heat — there is no combustion stage at any point.

*CO2 released equals the CO2 captured to produce the eMethanol — the cycle is carbon neutral.
Why this approach
No combustion
Energy is released electrochemically, not by combustion of the fuel burning. There is no flame, no exhaust soot, and no NOx, SOx and PM — only an electrical current.
Hydrogen on demand
Hydrogen is reformed internally in the XPS-5 from liquid methanol only as it is consumed, so there is never any high-pressure hydrogen to store, move or any fuel used when idling.
Continuous output
As long as fuel is supplied the reaction continues, delivering stable power without charge cycles or recovery periods.
Few moving parts
The core conversion has no pistons or crankshaft, which means low vibration, low noise and minimal mechanical wear.
The same core, scaled
The XPS is the building block inside both the XST and XGS product lines — one proven conversion engine across the range.
Carbon-neutral cycle
Running on e-methanol, the CO released balances the CO used to make the fuel — closing the loop with net-zero emissions.
